Recently got 3 rolls of film developed – all were shot on Holgas (120 and 35mm).
When I went to college we were taught first shooting with film. Then once we switched to digital I never really went back to film. I sold my 35mm film camera after school and sort of forgot about film. But recently, I’ve been shooting more with the Holgas I have (medium format is mine and the 35mm I gifted to Kenny before his last deployment in Kuwait).
What I like about Holgas is that I have no idea how the photos will come out. What I don’t like about Holgas is that I have no idea how the photos will come out. When the photos DO come out, they never fail to amaze me. But then there are the times where the film doesn’t come out at all because the stupid “toy” camera is sort-of broken and you get really mad because you think there were some good shots in that film (aka the 35mm). I’m hoping to invest in a film dslr once again at some point but until then I guess I will be pleasantly surprised (or disappointed) by my Holgas.
If you are wondering, I tend to shoot with Velvia (slide) film. I’m really into color in my photos and this film always gives me interesting colors that are saturated. I love that sort of whimsical, unrealistic coloring that the film gives.
