Channels – Recording

Spent a couple of days at the beginning of the new year with Channels, a folk/indie trio band in LA.
They’ve been working on writing and tracking their EP. After seeing all the long hours of recording, I can’t wait to hear the final versions!

The Bay

Went on a mini-roadtrips of sorts with Kenny right before the new year. Drove up to the Bay – visited Lemoore, San Jose, Half Moon Bay, and San Francisco. Spent most of the time eating and shopping as well as catching up with old friends. Congrats to JJ & Ashley who surprised us with the news that they have a lovely baby on the way! <3

It made me happy that we went on a random detour to Half Moon Bay since I’ve never been there before. So here are pics from that leg of the trip:

It also has newly become 2012. I’m really excited for this new year and all that it will bring. I’m hoping for lots of shooting and adventures as well as continuing to work with Instant Noodles Crew. Here’s to a great new year!

S2K

S2K, or Style 2 Kill, is a new all-female dance project that encompasses many styles of dance.
They have an awesome roster of ridiculously talented ladies and it was great getting to work with a group of girl dancers (since recently I’ve been shooting lots of male dance crews).

I was super excited about the concept that Janice came up with. We decided to go with a multi-bird theme – matching the personalities of each girl in the group into a type of bird (eagles, peacocks, and robins). Hikari and Janice put together a perfect team together and planned out the shoot super well. AMAZING job to the hairstylists, Jasmine Chang and Marshall Bang, for their hard work – I was amazed at how much you two did in such a short period of time. So much planning and hard work was put into this shoot so I’m glad everything ended up being pretty amazing.

Solstice Canyon

Went on an adventure to Solstice Canyon for the first time a couple of days ago. I’ve never been before so it was a fun experience – I definitely want to go back soon when it’s not so dark (we hiked pretty late and it was completely dark when we were hiking out of the canyon) and when I’m not sick. I really wanted to find this grotto with Mary statues but I couldn’t find it this time. ):

The first portion of the hike was easy but once we passed the burned down ranch house, it was purely rock climbing (bouldering). While it sucked to climb around since I was sick, I was glad to have had some climbing experience before going here or it definitely would have been a lot more difficult.

Did a fun shoot with Aimee and Juliet a bit back (check my old post here). Thank you Aimee for the wonderful photos and Juliet for the amazing hair and makeup! I am such an awkward “model” but Aimee definitely makes me look good every time.

And at once I knew I was not magnificent.

Haven’t had a chance to blog about my last trip to Florida.

Went to Gainesville with Instant Noodles for Asian Kaleidoscope Month’s Closing Ceremony to perform alongside Kina Grannis and Kevin Shea.

This was my first time in Florida and I had a really great experience! It was a pretty relaxing trip – everything was planned really well so the guys and myself didn’t feel the anxiety that we sometimes feel on the road. We also had the opportunity to make a whole bunch of new friends – Thanks a TON for all the eboard for such a fun time and for Chin Chin & Min for taking such good care of us and housing us!

I expected the weather to be similar to LA (especially after checking the weather before leaving) but it ended up being freakishly cold. Totally unprepared yet again. I guess I should start packing for all sorts of weather when I travel instead of what the weather says it should be!

Went to the Samuel Harn Museum which had a collection of artwork that I really enjoyed! They made a new Asian/AsianAm wing which I loved.

We also frolicked with some gators in a swamp while in Florida. These were so cute.
