I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned how much I love shooting musicians and bands. It’s a completely different experience than shooting other subjects. They tend to be very fun, relaxed shoots and are always ready to try new things on the fly. Hopefully in 2013 (if the world doesn’t end tomorrow haha) I’ll get even more opportunities to meet and work with more talented musicians.
Did a quick shoot with Colleagues, a hardcore band from Los Angeles.
Brainchild of Kenny, this project has been evolving over the past couple of years. Although there are 25 songs written so far, they continue to build, mold, and rework the music into something great (but not always what they have originally intended). As the members have also been shifting throughout the project, they are currently looking for a full-time guitarist and bassist so let them know if anyone is interested!
Channel(s) is a new up-and-coming band (think indie/folk) who have great potential and tons of personality. They recorded some live demos (check them out here) and are currently working on getting their EP together.
Went with something simple and clean that would really showcase who they are for this first promo shoot.
This past weekend, my talented friend and youtube sensation, Jennifer Chung, held her first album release show at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. It was an amazing show.
Jen – I can’t write how proud of you I am. To watch you blossom and grow from your first youtube videos and first original song to such a successful and talented singer-songwriter hosting an album release show. You are always an inspiration to me and your show totally blew me away. Keep up the amazing work.
What made this show even better for me was that my friend Kenny Choi (Wolftron/Daphne Loves Derby) flew down from Seattle to open. Seeing two friends perform one show was such a treat. (: I love you both!
Please support both of the artists and check them out!

Got a chance to work again with the awesome band Modern American Theatre.
They are a rock band located in Los Angeles so if you are in the area, check out their shows!
MAT is also working on a new album which I am super excited for.
Keep updated with MAT:
Shot stills for the first filming of Arshad Aslam’s new music video, “Red Alert.”
The music video should be debuting hopefully by the end of the year. The EP has a wide range of styles on it, from pop-rock (“Red Alert”) to electro-dance. Keep an eye out for it.
Worked with a great group of guys from G.L.A.M. Productions filming along with a great band: Nick Bell (of Thunder City Shout) on guitar, Daniel Dursten (of Fiasco!) on bass, and Beau Evans (of Avenue 52) on drums.

I know I haven’t updated any photos in months. Instead of updating from waaaay back I’ll just start with this band. They don’t really have a name yet, so we’ll call them Tricks Aren’t for Kids (TAFK) for now.
They’re a group of guys who used to jam, decided to start writing and voila! a band was formed. TAFK is: Wes (drums), Dave (rhythm guitar), Sean (lead guitar), Drew (bass), and Warren (vocals). As for their sound: “Incubus meets Muse meets Foo Fighters meets Temper Trap meets Clapton.”
They’re a very energetic group of guys, even for shooting at 9AM in Downtown LA.
I feel a little rusty shooting groups of people like this. I can’t wait to keep shooting more bands, though. If you know a band who wants photos, send them my way!
