Style Me Grasie – October

29 Oct

Shooting with Grasie in October was exciting for several reasons. Los Angeles has finally decided that it may want to start feeling like fall. We’ve had lots of hot days in Oct still, but we had a couple days of rain and even some weather where we can wear pants and a jacket.

What really made October exciting was that Grasie got engaged to her long time beau, Damien!

I’m so excited for them! On one Wednesday of every month on her blog, Grasie has “Wedding Wednesdays” following her wedding planning adventures. Her first “Wedding Wednesday” post was all about her unique, vintage ring.

And now, on to the outfits from October!

Besides getting awesome outfit photos, Grasie got invited to The Salon by Maxime, a haute salon on Rodeo Dr. in Beverly Hills. She got her nails done and some quick makeup. Everyone there was sweet and I was surprised by the size and openness of the salon. It had a huge open loft feel in the middle of Rodeo! Be sure to check them out at their website and on facebook. Read Grasie’s post from our stop at The Salon!

Grasie Mercedes Fashion Blog Collab

15 Aug

For those of you who have noticed that I have been linking Grasie Mercedes‘ blog posts to my facebook page, here is why! I am lucky enough to be collaborating with Grasie and shooting photos for her outfit posts for her blog.

Grasie is an extremely talented and sweet stylist, host, and actress here in LA (originally from NYC). Her blog is awesome – covers things from fashion (tips, celebrity, and her own outfits) to food to events and adventures. It’s dynamic and informative so be sure to check it out.

Here are some photos from past shoots we have done. We are still in the beginning stages so I’m really excited to see where this all goes!

Paris vs New York

15 Nov

There is an awesome design blog called Paris vs New York that I think is so clever.

Maybe it’s not so funny if you’ve never been to Paris or never been to New York. Or if you don’t know anything about the cultures. Or if you can’t speak French (or if you can’t speak English.. but if you can’t speak English, I’m surprised you’re reading my blog). But I wouldn’t know because luckily, none of what I wrote applies to me (even with my pathetic French skills) so I find this site unbelievably entertaining. Plus I love the minimalistic design (the pictures speak for themselves so even if you don’t understand the French, I’m pretty sure you can understand what they’re talking about).

There have been some major changes in my life. Most recently, I quit my studio job at Studio Seress. I am now 100% self employed. I will be working on Sylvia G Photography full time. Scared? Yes. But I am more excited than anything!

I’ve been thinking a lot about a variety of things recently and one is what direction to take this blog in. I’ve been using it as a lot of random shoot recaps and such, which I think is fine, but I really want more than that. I want to contribute to the photography community somehow with this blog and I think a great way to do that is just write more about what I learn on this journey. To write about my mistakes and successes as a photographer. People who are newer in the field might find some of this stuff beneficial and people who are more advanced could probably give me some tips.

So that will be a new goal for this blog. I really hope it works out.
As of now, my life is very crazy and unorganized but as I put things together I’m sure the blog and why it’s here will fall into place.

Either way, feel free to leave feedback!
